Cadet Profiles

Connor McLennan
Army Cadet Conor McLennan, 14, who attends Kineton High School, lives in Banbury and is a member of the Banbury ACF Platoon. Conor has been in the Cadets for almost two years and joined when his friend told him how much fun it was. Conor said: "My friend asked me to join and it has been really good. I have been on annual camp on Salisbury Plain where we spent time on exercise 'in the field' learning to survive, cook for ourselves and keep warm and dry, and the bits I love best are the target shooting competitions."

Michael Paul
Corporal Michael Paul, is a member of 5 Platoon in Maidenhead. A pupil of Furze Platt School, Michael has been a Cadet for almost three years. Michael said: "I have always wanted to join the Cadets as I thought it would be more demanding that the scouts, and I have enjoyed the challenge and the discipline and the taste of Army life." Since joining Michael has been promoted to Corporal and is working on his Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Aneisha Rahman
Army Cadet Aneisha Rahman, 14, who lives in Petersfield and goes to the Petersfield School, is a member of the Bordon ACF Platoon, and has been a cadet for just a year. Aneisha said: "I joined to do something different, to learn new things, and make new friends, and one of the most useful things I have learnt so far has been first aid skills, which are so important to know, and I could use it to help someone one day."

Dominic Godbold and Aaron Richardson
Both Dominic Godbold, 13, who lives in Aldershot, and Aaron Richardson who lives in Farnborough, belong to 2 Platoon Army Cadet Force, based in Aldershot. Dominic and Aaron joined the Cadets at the same time, and became firm friends. Dominic who goes to All Hallows School in Farnham said: "I have already done a 1 star course and expedition at annual camp, and have had lots of fun learning how to target shoot." He added: "I joined as my dad is a Sergeant Instructor in the Cadets and he told me that it would give me some good grounding to help with my career and if I wanted to join the Army, which I do."

Cadet Aaron Richardson, 13, who goes to Cove School, joined the Cadets to get a taste of Army life, and make new friends. "I like staying out overnight on exercise which we did during our summer camp last year, I have also passed my 1 Star Cadet exam and am working on my next course, and my mates envy me when I tell them what we do at Cadets," he said.
