TA UNITS UNDER 43 (WX) BDE

The Territorial Army (TA) units that come under the operational command of 43 (Wx) Bde are 6 Rifles, Royal Wessex Yeomanry (RWxY) and 155 Transport Regiment RLC,  They consist of civilians trained to fulfil operational support on their spare time.  They provide suitably trained and motivated individual and sub-unit level reinforcements, in order to meet operational requirements.  6 Rifles are the South West Territorial Army Infantry Battalion with its Regimental Headquarters currently located in Exeter with the Companies spread across the South West.  The RWxY is the volunteer Cavalry Regiment providing the crewmen for the Challenger tanks of the Regular Cavalry Regiments as required. 155 Transport Regiment Royal Logistic Corps is currently being formed up with its implementation team in Plymouth and a new Squadron being raised in Bodmin.

UNIVERSITY OFFICER TRAINING CORPS

Currently there are Exeter and Bristol University Officer Training Corps in the region who has the responsibility of developing the leadership potential of selected students from their related Universities through enjoyable and challenging military training in order to communicate the values, ethos and career opportunities of Regular and Territorial service in the British Army.

REGIONAL TRAINING CENTRE (RTC)

RTC is located in Exeter and provides specialist training support to the Army and Cadets of the South West, in subjects common to all arms, so that brigade, unit and individual training objectives can be achieved.
