TA Employers
One of the key components in the success of the TA has always been the goodwill, support and encouragement of the nation's employers. It is the willingness of these dedicated employers to champion the men and women of the Volunteer Reserve Forces (VRF) that make their role possible.
Supporting Reservists and employers
In October 2002 the MOD launched SaBRE, a campaign dedicated to 'Supporting Britain's Reservists and Employers' - it is tasked with promoting a positive relationship between Reservists and their employers. It works impartially on behalf of both military and civilian communities.
National support delivered locally
To ensure that SaBRE can reach all employers, there are 13 regional offices as well as the London Headquarters. The 13 Regional SaBRE Campaign Directors grow and maintain support for the VRF within their region. This is done through the open availability of information and raising awareness through PR and events.
Experience Reservist Life
Exercise Executive Stretch is one example of Regional activity - A weekend team building event for employers to experience Reservist training first hand. In addition, there are various other events across the UK to promote understanding of what the TA does and how the skills learnt can be utilised in the workplace.
To promote a clearer understanding of what Reservists experience, SaBRE introduced the 'Employer Abroad' and 'UK Briefing Visits'. These events provide employers with first hand experience of what being part of the VRF involves and how it can be of benefit to their company.
