Civilians in Defence
Civilians contribute to the Ministry of Defence in a variety of ways. Within Kent, Surrey and Sussex, 2 (South East) Brigade currently has 215 civilians providing support to a diverse military structure.
As well as providing administrative support they provide expertise in financial, commercial and technical roles.
Within the South East we have a wide variety of units, including Regular and Territorial Army Battalions, Infantry, Vehicle Repair and Recovery Companies, Education Centres, and Administrative Centres. Civilians make a valuable contribution to the delivery of defence alongside our military colleagues and maintain continuity within the units they support. Civilians may also have the opportunity of supporting the armed forces on operations overseas.
Civilians can be found in nearly all of 2 (South East) Brigade units in such diverse roles as:
Drivers
Fitters
Armourers
Storemen
Administrators
Financial
Commercial
