Armed Forces from the UK finished military operations in Iraq and left in July 2009, having helped the Iraqis to secure and rebuild their country after years of neglect and conflict.

Operation TELIC was the name given to UK military operations in Iraq, where we operated as part of a coalition called the Multi-National Force - Iraq (MNF-I).

During 2009 our role changed from a military one to a bilateral relationship with close co-operation in a range of areas: economic, cultural, commercial, educational and defence.

About 400 troops remain, providing long-term training and capacity-building to the Iraqi Security Forces.
