David Cameron meets the troops in Afghanistan

David Cameron has visited British military personnel at Camp Bastion, Afghanistan today (11 June 2010). He went for a jog with personnel from 1st Close Support Battalion Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.

The Prime Minister also had breakfast with mixed groups of military personnel before visiting the Expeditionary Forces Institute (EFI) where he relaxed with personnel from the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force.

His visit follows on from yesterday's visit to Kabul where he met with the Afghan President Hamid Karzai and released details of further financial support to help counter the threat from improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
