Injured soldiers go to Paralympics

The British personnel join Team GB for a photo before their game with Canada and the USA on 10 March at Richmond Curling Club in Vancouver, Canada.

Seven injured UK service personnel, including three soldiers, have flown to Vancouver to join US and Canadian servicemen and women attending Paralympics Sport Clinics.

Sergeant Mick Brennen, Captain Martin Hewitt and Staff Sergeant Matt Raasch-Sotinwa are not competing in the Games, but as 'Paralympics potentials' they'll be using their time to train and compete at the Clinics, getting an understanding of the Games environment.

The trip has been organised by Battle Back, which exists to improve and formalise the use of adventurous training and sport in the aftercare of wounded service personnel as part of their rehabilitation and return to an active life.

This is the first time that injured service personnel on rehabilitation programmes from the UK, US and Canada have trained together in pursuit of their dream to compete in their chosen sport at Paralympics level in the 2012/14 Games.
