Based in Redford Barracks in Edinburgh, 3 RIFLES are within striking distance of The Rifles major recruiting areas in Yorkshire and The North East.
Helicopter abseil training
The 3rd Battalion will train in all aspects of Light Role Infantry warfare as part of 11 Light Brigade and will routinely be the spearhead Battalion, tasked to deploy at short notice to trouble spots around the world such as a recent deployment to the Lebanon.
It will typically conduct overseas exercises in jungle and arctic environments in order to meet this requirement.
